Losing 4-7 the night before to Seattle at home was tough, but Saturday's season ending 4-5 loss might have been tougher to digest. With the score 4-1 in Seattle's favor the Generals responded with THREE second period goals to cut the margin to 4-3 at the intermission. Erik Brody tied the game at 4 a piece at 8:27 of the third but the Totems scored the winning goal with just 2:08 remaining in the game. Eugene played tough and kept their composure against a good Seattle team that does seem to lose it's temper on occasion. The loss was only the 4th home loss of the season for the Gednerals , who finished 20-4 at home this season and 33-15 overall. Eugene opens the playoffs at home next weekend against Tri-City at home on Friday and Saturday then travels to Tri-City the following weekend to finish the series with game three and games four and five if needed. I believe I can attend both games next weekend so please be sure to check back for pictures. Shots from Saturday's home loss to Seattle are available here! Thanks for visiting. After a big sweep over River City at home the Generals suffered a tough 7-1 loss to Tri-City on Friday night. It appeared Saturday as though a similiar result might occur. But, the team, down 4-1, decided not to give up. Eugene was able to lower the lead to 4-2 going into the third then tied the game at 5-5 at the end of regulation. The teams would go through two scoreless OT periods, with each team receiving a penalty shot at one point as well. Eugene would outscore the Titans 2-1 in the shootout to get the final 6-5 margin of victory. Pictures from the game are available here! With the new baby I haven't had time to update the page much. It is worth checking out http://www.nwsportspics on Mondays following home games to see if I have posted pics. I am not always prompt in getting them posted here but they usually go up there a day or so after a game. The Generals have been playing very well of late and have won 8 in a row after this weekends sweep of Puget Sound. The team remains in third place but has game(s) in hand against Tri-City. The Nor-Pac League announced recently that it will send two teams to the National Tournament. Both division winners will compete at Nationals then, if I understood correctly, return for the Cascade Cup Championship. Pictures from recent games are linked to at both the right and left. Thanks for visiting and ZI do expect to catch some action this weekend against River City. After the big wins over Seattle last weekend the Generals were given no tim e to rest against a good River City team. Friday night was an example of that as the team lost their first home game of the season 7-4 to the Jaguars. For a while Saturday looked as though a repeat would occur. The two teams were scoreless after the first period before Seattle scored twice, once on a power play and once right after. Eugene had penalty problems in the second and things were starting to look bleak but CJ Henley scored a short handed goal to get the Generals on the board. Things seemed to improve in the third as Trent McKee scored the first of his two goals to tie the game. River City accumulated 17 penalties in the third compared to Eugene's 9. River City would again take the lead late at 3-2 before Michael Frei tied the score and then McKee got his second goal with a 1:45 left. Officials intially called off the score before confering with the goal official. It appeared as though the puck bounced off a defenders skate and perhaps the post before clearling the line but it counted and Eugene was back in a tie for third place. Pictures from Saturday night's game are available here! The Generals defeated first place Seattle 4-3 and 6-4 last Friday and Saturday night to up their record to 20-8. I was unable to attend because of the birth of my daughter, Makayla Ann on the 5th. It is my hope to attend one of the home games this weekend against River City. I did however attend the win against Cour d'Alene after the two road losses to Tri-City last weekend. Pictures from that game are available by clicking here. Thanks for visiting and I hope I am able to keep the page current despite my recent lack of sleep. GENERALS REMAIN IN SECOND PLACE WITH ROAD SWEEP OF PUGET SOUND ! The Wranglers managed to sneak four by the Generals keeper, but Eugene still controlled the game and won by a 12-4 margin. Pictures from Saturday's big win are available here! Eugene completed a two game sweep of the Tri-City Titans Saturday night with another dominating win, this time 6-1 . The victory ups the Generals record to 10-3 and leaves them in a tie with River City for second place with 20 points, with both teams behind Seattle. However, the Generals do have a game in hand as the Jaguars are 10-4. The win also keeps the Generals unbeaten at home where they are 7-0 while 3-3 on the road. Brendan Elkins had two goals for the Generals. Tri-City led after one period 1-0 but Neil Holder tied it up 39 seconds into the period on a power play goal and newly returning General Michael Frei gave the team the lead for good with a goal at 3:46. The win streak is up to nine in a row, the team is in second place, and Michael Frei returned to the team earlier this week . Eugene treated their fans to a stunning 9-2 victory over the Tri-City Titans Friday night while wearing their pink jerseys for the third consecutive year on Breast Cancer Awareness Night. Eugene broke open a 2-2 game after the first period with 3 second period goals and 4 third period goals. Clayton Lewis scored two goals in the second and one in the third for a hat trick. Pictures from the big victory are available here! I will be in attendance tomorrow as well with my youngest son. Again thanks everyone for visiting. It wasn't easy, just as the coach said it wouldn't be, but the Eugene Generals came through with a hard fought 3-1 victory over the Puget Sound Tomahawks Friday night at Lane County Ice. The victory upped the Genrals record to 5-3, their fifth consecutive victory in the Nor-Pac. The game saw several scuffles and numerous penalties, but that was probably more reflective of the intensity of the rivalry between these two teams than anything else! The teams face each other again tonight at Lane County ICE! This game marked the first use of a new camera for me and the lack of quality probably shows my inexperience with the camera. Hopefully, after I gain some experience with it I will be able to provide better quality shots. For those interested pictures can be viewed here! Thanks for visiting. GENERALS SWEEP LAKERS UP RECORD TO 4-3! After a 0-3 start the Generals have now won 4 in a row to up their division record to 4-3 after a sweep of the Cour d'Alene Lakers 6-3 and 4-2 this past weekend. The Generals press relase for the victory over Cour d'Alene is available by clicking here! After an 0-3 start the Eugene Generals came back home and treated the fans to a pair of victories. Four first period goals for the home team capped a 5-1 opening night win over Rogue Valley on Friday. Saturday looked as if it would be a much closer contest and it was through two periods as Eugene led the Wranglers 4-3 at the second intermission, but the Generals would explode for FIVE third period goals in route to a big 9-4 victory upping their record to 2-3! Pictures from Saturday's game are available here! The team will travel to Cour d'Alene next week for a pair of games before returning home on October 5th and 6th to take on the Puget Sound Tomahawks. 2007-08 SEASON STARTS SLOWLY Well the 2007-08 season has started already and the Generals are off to a slow start losing 5-2 twice at River City and also losing 6-3 to Tri-City. The team hopes to put some numbers in the W's column this weekend as they return home to play the Rogue Valley Wranglers Friday and Saturday night at Lane County Ice. Game times are listed at 7:35pm for both contests. My hope is to attend as many games before the New Year as possible and I will either attend Friday or Saturday but probably not both. My work schedule is hectic at best. After the New Year I expect my time will be taken up by my new daughter who is expected to be born on December 20th although I will continue to support the team and either watch or listen to games online! And, ofcourse if I can attend a game or two to photograph I will. Special thanks to Chris Bilder for providing the credentials to photograph the games.
